ELMER J. FAUST, senior member of the firm of Faust & Landes, was born near Cetronia, Lehigh County, Pa., March 22, 1863, the son of Henry J. and Annie M. (Kline) Faust. He received his education in the public schools of his native township, after which he resided in Philadelphia four years, during which period he learned the jeweler's trade. In 1886 he located in Allentown, establishing himself as a jeweler and optician at 923 Hamilton Street. He was one of the first opticians in the city, and has built up a large and lucrative trade in that line. He possesses a complete lens-grinding plant and has a large force of employees. He is interested in public affairs and served one term in city councils from the Eleventh Ward as a Republican. In June, 1915, he entered into partnership with Ira H. Landes under the firm name of Faust & Landes, locating at 728 Hamilton Street. The store is classed as one of the leading jewelry establishments in the city. He is a member of Greenleaf Lodge, No. 561, F. and A. M.; Allen Commandery, K. T.; Allen Chapter, R. A. M.; Allen Council, R. and S. M.; Rajah Temple, No. 23, Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Reading, Pa. On June 4, 1905, Mr. Faust married Anna R., daughter of Joseph and Sarah Guldner, of Northampton, Pa.
