Wonderly, Victor F.

VICTOR F. WONDERLY, undertaker and extensive realty owner, was born in Allentown, November 7, 1858, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Caroline (Siegfried) Wonderly. He attended the public schools, Muhlenberg College and the Allentown Business College. Mr. Wonderly's first employment was with the firm of Wonderly & Schreiber, furniture dealers, of which his father was a member. Later his father engaged in the undertaking business and the son after being passed upon by the State Board of Undertakers, in Philadelphia, on March 9, 1898, became associated with his father as an undertaker and embalmer. Upon the death of his father he assumed full control of the business, and today the Wonderly establishment is one of the most complete undertaking firms in this section of the State.

Mr. Wonderly is actively interested in city real estate, and is the owner of a large number of valuable city properties. He is a keen-minded business man and enjoys the friendship of all who ever dealt with him. He also served several terms in city council. Mr. Wonderly also traveled extensively, having crossed the continent several times.

In 1874 he married Emma Hartman, daughter of William Hartman, of Allentown. She died in 1888 and seven years later Mr. Wonderly married Annie Koch, daughter of Jonas Koch, of Allentown. His second wife died in 1913.
