ESSINGTON KEPHART, farmer, was born in Huntingdon county, Pennsylvania, July 9, 1807, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Epley) Kephart, of English and German descent. In 1827 Mr. Kephart came to this township and bought two hundred acres of land from Alexander McCalmont, upon which he now resides. He married in 1830, Mary Ann B. Meiss, and they are the parents of four children: Henry and George E., deceased; Mrs. Katharine Domer, and Mrs. Sarah E. Meyers. Mr. Kephart is a local preacher in the Methodist church, and politically a Republican.
